The masks from Lanaco are proving to be incredibly popular with Rotary and there have been several projects as a prelude to the start of the Rotary One Million Masks campaign – Rotary Fiji, Auckland foodbanks and now the below:

On Friday 29 October 1600 Lanaco 'Brezy' masks, funded jointly between the Chenery Memorial Trust and the Rotary Club of Papakura, were delivered to the Papakura and Manurewa Marae in South Auckland for the protection of their front-line staff. Both operate testing, food banks and vaccinations from their Marae including running outreach vaccination programs that are vaccinating thousands. The Papakura Marae alone has vaccinated over 10,000 people as well as supplied thousands of Foodboxes and Community Meals and this is also happening at scale in the Manurewa Marae with Testing for Covid an added activity that needs to be supported.

This initiative was driven by Peter Ross who sourced the funding and George Wilson who capably organised the Marae.  They were also assisted by Ariana Andrews, a RYLA and RYPEN team leader, who like many RYLA Alumni is contributing back to Rotary by volunteering to help on projects of many types.

Rotary’s support into the South Auckland area is extensive and this initiative continues to build on that and is yet another example of the awareness Rotary has for helping the community and ability to translate that into meaningful action. Papakura Rotary are thrilled to be part of the new One Million Masks Campaign and very grateful for the financial support of the Chennery Trust for providing this opportunity which is consolidating our activities of the past and opening up the opportunity for increased assistance to these two facilities ,who's operations that are not widely recognised or  publicised.

The picture below shows Peter Ross receiving the masks from Lanaco – note the cartons have been personalised as to who is donating these, a feature of orders over 100 masks under the One Million Mask campaign (the campaign is about to launch and most clubs will have received initial information).
