A sea of green was very hard to miss as 75 plus stepped out to celebrate 30 years of women as Rotarians.

We were hoping for a fine day for our combined District 9910 & District 9920, 5km walk around the Pt Chevalier and Wynyard Quarter, to mark the 30th Anniversary of Woman in Rotary.

Unfortunately Mother Nature thought otherwise, as nothing but rain. That didn’t deter approximately 75 woman and men turning up to celebrate this milestone and make an impact. Many wearing our new “green” Woman in Rotary t-shirts with green tutu’s, lei’s and other Rotary branded t-shirts. You couldn’t miss us, that was for sure.

Setting off around 9.30am, giving out Rotary flyers to those we met on the way and just having a great time. So much so, we will now be looking at having this as an annual event, and next time maybe some sun….. To end our group took over one of the local cafes and there was a definite sea of green……

A huge thank you to all that joined us for this walk. It was a great way to make new friends and catch up with old, while celebrating why we were there in the first place, and that was celebrating 30 years of “Woman in Rotary.”  Thanks to Elaine Mead and Leanne Jaggs and others for organising the walk.

Similar events including picnics were planned in other Districts but regrettably most were cancelled or postponed due to the awful weather.
