Even in the tropics when the rain thunders down and is warm the school children (well ... anyone) want to stay dry and that is where the ever thoughtful and active Savusavu Rotary steps forward.   And of course on the majority of days there are brilliant clear skies so it provides welcome shelter from the hot sun.

On Monday 15th August, Jacorita Badenhorst (Rotarian) and her husband Michael Bradnam (non-Rotarian) arrived on site to find Basan, the school handyman, waiting to help start building a new bus shelter for Buca School.  They prepared the ground and then Thakor Gulabdas (Rotarian) and three of his staff arrived with the ready mix for the concrete base. Thereafter,  Michael was ‘The Lone Worker’ doing the bulk of the work with Jacorita helping, pouring cups of tea, and offering moral support.  The framing was erected, quickly followed by corrugated iron sheets to enclose the sides.

A very big hearty VINAKA VAKA LEVU was given to Michael & Jacorita for going above and beyond the call of volunteerism in the little Savusavu community!
