Ota-Ract 276 excel with their Careers Xpo

What a stunning start! There is nothing timid about the new Otahuhu Rotaract Club of Ota-Ract 276. In their first major project they have teamed up with Otahuhu Main Street, the local business association, to hold a hugely successful careers day for local youth and the wider community, schools and education and employment services.

For the 19 members (many pictured) this was an incredibly inspirational experience where they learned a wide range of new organisational and networking skills as they planned the whole day.

Although they gained some help from the Chenery Trust, they did all the fundraising themselves including playing a role in the Otahuhu Rotary Winemakers Lunch.

The day itself was a ‘buzz’ with hundreds attending the opportunity to speaker to stall holders about the many career opportunities available to them. The outcome was people were able to walk away with some sort of idea of future career options and the stall holders were able to get referrals for their programmes and even had a few agencies hire students.
