Oh YES!  I am so looking forward to the Rotary training the district is providing for me as an incoming club officer.  Great for the club, fantastic for me.

The dynamic framework that has evolved over recent times means that I will not be bored by simple repeats of what I have heard in the past.  Don’t get me wrong, I do need reminding of what is routine and essential as these are easily overlooked yet so necessary for Rotary as a whole to work effectively but learning the new and better ways of doing things excites me.  And I like the fact that I will learn things I can use outside of Rotary as well.

There is a lot of ‘stuff’ to be aware of but the trainers have become expert at condensing this into a relatively short time frame that is quite manageable  so I will remain on task and not drift away into dream land.  They can do this of course because in addition to being professional trainers in their day job they are experienced Rotarians who know what is important to those coming to that particular training session and concentrate on that.

Fun!  Rotary training needs to deliver the content but always there have been times where there has been some fun deliberately injected into the proceedings and I appreciate that as it helps us all to get to know each other. We get to chat about our common experiences and feel more comfortable to maintain some contact after the training so as to support and learn from those in similar roles for the year ahead.

So while I have been around a while and been to many Rotary training events I know I will learn a lot.  Whether I am being reminded of what I have forgotten that will be incredibly useful to remember and actually make use of this time, or learning new things, I know I will become more aware that Rotary is constantly evolving and the change in recent time for the better is quite extraordinary.  If I can benefit so hugely from Rotary training, just imagine the vast knowledge and skills new Rotarians will gain!  Amazing.

Rotary provides those taking up positions world-class training so why not make the most of it! My advice for anyone offered training is you owe it to your fellow members to give your upcoming role your best shot so come along to the training on offer … you will enjoy it.
